Pablo González Tornel’s book focuses on the process of transformation of the Immaculate Conception of Mary into the principal devotion of Spain during the Seventeenth century. The project is based on documentation, works of art, chronicles of festivals and literary works that permit an analysis of the phenomenon of the doctrine’s popularization, and the manners in which religious propaganda operated.
