Medrie MacPhee

Medrie MacPhee’s project will focus on the relationship that exists between architecture and the structuring of clothing, considering design, pattern, and arrangement particular to the Byzantine and Islamic architecture of Genoa. MacPhee scavenges for the clothing that she incorporates into her paintings from many sources, including 99-cent stores, personal cast-offs, and second-hand stores. In Genoa, she will be cruising the flea markets for clothing and accessories that would literally and symbolically enrich her “palette”.

Il progetto di Medrie MacPhee si focalizzerà sulla relazione che intercorre tra l'architettura e la strutturazione dell'abbigliamento, considerando il design, il modello e l'arrangiamento in particolare dell'architettura bizantina e islamica di Genova. MacPhee recupera gli abiti che incorpora nei suoi dipinti da molte fonti, inclusi negozi da 99 centesimi, abiti personali dismessi e negozi di seconda mano. A Genova passeggerà tra i mercatini delle pulci alla ricerca di vestiti e accessori che potrebbero arricchire letteralmente e simbolicamente la sua "tavolozza".
