Mary Ellen Childs

Mary Ellen Childs will work on North, based on her recent research experiences in the international territory of Svalbard, at the far northern reaches of our planet. North will be written for new music ensemble Zeitgeist, for clarinet, piano, and 2 percussionists. Reflecting the stark winter environment of the Arctic and issues of climate change, the work involves live music, melting ice, and interweaves sounds recorded in the Arctic.
