Derek Attridge

Derek Attridge will revise a number of published essays in order to produce a single coherent volume on the importance of formal innovation in the fiction of the 20th and 21st centuries. The essays engage with both the classic modernism of James Joyce and the “late modernism” of more recent writers following in Joyce’s footsteps, with particular attention to the global fortunes of this later modernism. An introduction will argue for the continuing vitality of the innovatory spirit of modernism.

Derek Attridge lavorerà alla revisione di una serie di saggi pubblicati al fine di realizzare un volume dedicato allˈimportanza dell’innovazione formale nel romanzo del ventesimo e ventunesimo secolo. I saggi riguardano sia il classico modernismo di James Joyce che il “tardo modernismo” di scrittori più recenti che hanno seguito le orme di Joyce, dando particolare attenzione al successo globale di questo tardo modernismo.
