The most impressive pine trees in Bogliasco (the pinus pinea, sometimes called the stone pine or umbrella pine) can grow to a height of 100 feet. These trees, like thousands of others in Liguria, produce the pignolo, or pine nut, an essential ingredient in pesto sauce.

All privileges of Amici degli Ulivi, plus:

$5,000 Amici degli Ulivi
— Olive Trees —
Olive trees are found throughout the region of Liguria. The olive grove in the garden of Villa Orbiana contains more than 140 trees, some of which may be more than 450 years old. These trees produce their olives every two years. When harvested, our olives yield an oil that is intense in flavor.
($4,825 tax deductible)

All privileges of Amici della Mimosa, plus:

$2,500 Amici della Mimosa
— Mimosa Tree —
The Ligurian mimosa tree prefers to grow in the hills that lead into the Apennines. In the area around Bogliasco, the brilliant yellow flowers of the mimosa, which appear in midwinter, are considered special gifts for women, or sometimes simply for passers by on the Via Aurelia.
($2,400 tax deductible)

All privileges of Amici della Buganvillea, plus:

$1,000 Amici della Buganvillea
— Bougainvillea —
This climbing plant, which appears to be content on any vertical surface, does not produce flowers but rather changes the color of its leaves according to season. The bougainvillea plants that grow on the southern wall of Villa dei Pini turn a deep purple color in spring and summer.
($975 tax deductible)

Giving levels are named after the varieties of flora that are indigenous to Liguria, the region that gives the Study Center its name. Each of these plants can be found on the expansive and beautifully landscaped grounds of the Study Center.
